Membership in the Mayflower Society is based upon proving a direct line of descent from a Pilgrim who came on the Mayflower. As a family organization, we are one of the few hereditary societies to admit men, women, and children to membership. Strong family ties were responsible for the survival of the Mayflower Pilgrims and for their millions of descendants, and we celebrate them today.
Yet, it was not only family that contributed to the success of the venture, but the entire community who came together to work toward success in the New World. In the same vein, those unable to provide documented genealogical eligibility matter to us––whether relatives, friends, or interested parties. All are part of the Mayflower heritage and though they may not share the inherited Pilgrim blood, we still wish to recognize them as kin.
We encourage family, friends, and those interested in the Mayflower Society to join Friends of the Pilgrims with a one-time donation of $150.00 for an Adult Friend (over 18), or $75.00 for a Junior Friend. (At 18, a Junior Friend may become an Adult with an additional donation of $75.00.)
Friends will be sent a special Friends of the Pilgrims pin and a certificate. These pins are enameled with red and blue, showing an engraving of the Mayflower vessel. Each new Friend of the Pilgrims is recognized in our newsletter, The Compact.
