Robert Cushman of Kent by Robert E. Cushman and Franklin P. Cole, Judith Haddock Swan, ed. (Plymouth, Mass., 2 nd ed., 2005), softcover, [ix] + 263 pp. $15.00.

Robert Cushman played a key role in helping the Pilgrims to settle in America. He was the group’s agent and spent much of his time in London. This volume details his life and involvement by subjects in the ten chapters of the book. The first four are written by Cushman and the rest by Cole. Each employed the use of endnotes for each chapter. There is a forty-page bibliography of relevant historical material for the book and eighteen appendices. The book sadly does not include a subject or name index to make it useful as a reference work. Those interested in the history of this important period will find the book interesting. This is not a genealogical book about his ancestors or descendants.
