Delivery of this volume will be by 1 October and likely before. Vital Records of Stoughton, Mass., to 1850 (2008) by David Allen Lambert - $45.00 This volume is compiled by the local authority on the town. The earliest records were published over 100 years ago, but this includes all surviving records to 1850. The town hall suffered two fires before 1880, though fortunately few vital records were lost. The missing records from 1834 to 1850 have been partially filled in by family records for births that were collected by the town clerk and from the state records starting in 1841. This volume is about 650 pages with a detailed index. Besides the all-name index, the book includes a place index (other than Stoughton), first name index to help identify those ancestresses without a last name, African Americans, and Native Americans. There is a second volume planned for Stoughton that will include church, cemetery, and probate for residents of the town. Be sure to look for this in the next year.
Middleborough, Massachusetts Vital Records, Volume One (1988) - $15.00 Volume One is still available that covers births to 1838, deaths to 1800, and marriages to 1772. This is a verbatim transcript of the original town records and includes an all-name index. This volume is 472 pages.
